We are in Lennox Head!

Doing what is right, not what is easy.....

In the aftermath of Lismore’s recent devastating floods, our Foundation Partner, Southern Cross University, has provided unprecedented and invaluable support to the community. As part of that support, SCU and the Northern Rivers Football Academy agreed to provide a base for the ADF during their rescue and cleanup work in Lismore.

Following the departure of the ADF, SCU was asked by Resilience NSW to host critical temporary accommodation for some of the region’s displaced residents.

With so many homes destroyed and so many families in distress, the Academy had no alternative but to make way.

Since then, it has become apparent the synthetic pitch, damaged by floodwaters and the impact of housing the ADF, has continued to degrade and has become unplayable. Like so many Lismore families and businesses, the NRFA has had to look for an alternative venue in order to continue operating.

With help from the NSW Department of Sport and Recreation, and the generous support of our neighbours, Ballina Shire Council, the NRFA has secured the use of Lennox Head’s new Hutley Drive Sports Fields. This new facility has two fully-lit ovals, fresh new change rooms and well-appointed amenities.

Now, after months of fragmentation and uncertainty (and relying on the generosity of Lismore’s wonderful sports community) all of our squads will once more be able to train at the one location.

While the move to the coast will undoubtedly bring some challenges, we are confident that the Academy family will, once again, rise to meet them.
